Description
This course begins with the focus on health and illness concepts and health promotion emphasizing holistic care to individuals and families across the lifespan. The importance of teamwork and collaboration is introduced to enhance the provision of safe quality care. The concepts of health and wellness and the determinants of health behavior will be examined, Emphasis on providing patient-centered, culturally competent nursing care with the importance of health promotion. Lifespan care of vulnerable populations such as mental health, maternal child well-being, and older adults emphasized. Prerequisites: CHE 113, BIO 234 & 235 -or- BIO 211 & 212; Corequisites: NUR 201, BIO 325, PSY 214.
