Description
This course introduces the foundations of professional nursing practice to include assessment and care activities that promote health and adaptive responses to clients in all settings. Focused is placed on the nursing process, health promotion, disease prevention, professional communication and collaboration with the use of cultural competence, critical decision-making meeting the need of diverse patients in a variety of healthcare environments. Throughout the course the student will demonstrate competence of the fundamental principles of nursing practice through clinical skill performance validation in the laboratory and clinical settings. Prerequisites: NUR 260 and 240, and 200-L OR NUR 261 and 200-L; Corequisites: NUR 356 and MAT 209.
