Description

This course introduces the student to the basic principles of pharmacology and pathophysiology. Understanding the foundation of pathophysiology, its organ structure and function during illness and health problems across the lifespan. Additionally, the basics related to treatment of illness and promotion of wellness in patients throughout the lifespan. The study of drug actions, indications of side effects, nursing implications for administration, patient teaching and evaluation of safety and effectiveness. Students will identify critical thinking skills to determine cause, pathology, and clinical manifestations of certain illnesses. Prerequisites: BIO 234 & 235 -or- BIO 211 & 212, CHE 113, NUR 200, 201 and 202. Corequisites: NUR 200, 250 & 251
