Description

This course introduces the student to the basic principles of pharmacology and pathophysiology. Understanding the foundation of pathophysiology, its organ structure and function during illness and health problems across the lifespan. Additionally, the basics related to treatment of illness and promotion of wellness in patients throughout the lifespan. The study of drug actions, indications of side effects, nursing implications for administration, patient teaching and evaluation of safety and effectiveness. Students will identify critical thinking skills to determine cause, pathology, and clinical manifestations of certain illnesses. Prerequisites: NUR 200, NUR 200L, NUR 261. Corequisites: NUR 249, NUR 249C, NUR 249L.
