Description

In this theory and laboratory course, the student is prepared to care
for patients with mental health needs across the continuum of care.
The focus of the course is on theories and concepts of psychiatric and
mental health nursing that incorporate a partnership between the
nurse and patient, focusing on patient strengths, and assisting the
nurse to facilitate patient empowerment. The interdependent
influences of family, community, culture, and the healthcare system
are explored. Prerequisites: NUR 320, NUR 321, NUR 322. Prerequisite or
concurrent enrollment: NUR 354
