Description

In this theory course, the student is introduced to the core
knowledge and competencies expected of the professional nurse to
provide safe, quality, evidenced-based nursing care to children and
their families. Emphasis is given to assessment, clinical reasoning,
and communication strategies that are developmentally
appropriate and sensitive to human diversity. Attention is given to
the management and coordination of family-centered nursing care
across the continuum of care. Professional roles of the nurse,
including health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease
management, end-of-life and palliative care, health teaching,
collaboration and caring, and patient and family advocacy are
explored. Prerequisites: NUR 311, NUR 320, NUR 321, NUR 322 NUR 331,
NUR 335, Prerequisite or concurrent enrollment: NUR 354, NUR 357.
