Description

In this theory course, the student is provided opportunities to
explore and discuss factors impacting the older adult, including
exploration of the impact of stigma, socioeconomics, physiological
changes, pharmacological factors, psychological needs, ethical
considerations, and legal issues. Clinical reasoning and evidencebased
practice are utilized to develop person-centered and
culturally sensitive care to maximize health, function, and quality of
life for geriatric populations. End-of-life care for older adults and
their families is addressed. Content in this course prepares
students to provide safe, quality nursing care to older adults in a
variety of settings. Prerequisites: NUR 320, NUR 321, NUR 322, NUR 331.
Prerequisite or concurrent enrollment: NUR 354.
