Description

In this theory course, the student will be challenged to analyze
the critical issues affecting delivery of high quality, safe,
equitable, cost-effective health care in the 21st century. Students
will be challenged to explain the leadership roles and
responsibilities of the professional nurse in providing care that
promotes social justice and supports the worth and dignity of
individuals, families, communities, and populations, irrespective
of differences or differentness. Students will explore and analyze
relevant theoretical concepts and models including leadership,
management, followership, power, authority, influence, planning and
decision-making, conflict, and change. Prerequisites: NUR 311,
NUR 320, NUR 321, NUR 322, NUR 331, NUR 335, NUR 350, NUR 351, NUR
353, NUR 354, NUR 355, NUR 357, NUR 430, NUR 431, NUR 435. (First
offered Spring 2011).
