Description

In this theory course, the student is introduced to the foundations
of public and community health nursing. This course is focused
on individuals, families, communities, and populations, and is
grounded in the principles of social justice, ethics, policy, and
ecocompetence. Students will use clinical reasoning to assess and
analyze community data, identify community nursing diagnoses,
and plan evidence-based nursing interventions for primary,
secondary, and tertiary prevention to improve health and limit
local and global health disparities. Prerequisites: NUR 311, NUR 320,
NUR 321, NUR 322, NUR 331, NUR 335, NUR 350, NUR 351, NUR 353, NUR
354, NUR 355, NUR 357, NUR 430, NUR 431, NUR 432, NUR 435, NUR 437.
(First offered spring 2011-fulfills MMC Global graduation requirement).
